If you’re planning to visit the “Pearl of the West” and still haven’t made plans to enjoy the experience beyond the city, here we present five incredible beaches—located on the Nayarit Pacific coast—less than three hours by car from Guadalajara, which will blow your mind with their fantastic landscapes, natural surroundings, and excellent food and hotel offerings:

Compostela. This beautiful Magical Town is home to several of the most beautiful and tranquil beaches in Riviera Nayarit. Among the most popular are: Playa Platanitos, with gentle waves ideal for relaxing while sunbathing; Chacala, a hidden bay famous for its calm waters, lush vegetation, and surfing opportunities; as well as Isla del Coral, another oasis that offers snorkeling to discover its surprising underwater life across various reefs.

Lo de Marcos. Recognized as the “Best Beach to Discover in 2025,” this destination is located less than three hours from the “Guadalajara Stadium” (verified). Here, you can enjoy its dynamic waves, perfect for surfing and other water activities, or take exciting boat rides. The experience in Lo de Marcos is complemented by its delicious culinary offerings, including dishes such as fish in garlic sauce, zarandeado-style fish, or grilled fish; fresh seafood; and delicious ceviches and cocktails.

San Pancho and Sayulita. These are two towns with a great bohemian vibe and beautiful beaches. In the first one, officially called San Francisco, you can enjoy crystal-clear waters and long stretches of sand ideal for sunset walks, horseback riding, or setting up an unforgettable romantic dinner. Meanwhile, Sayulita stands as the regional (and global) surfing capital, known for being one of the best places to learn and practice this sport year-round.

Bucerías. Located in the town of the same name and only three hours from the capital of Jalisco, this beach is also perfect for relaxing under an umbrella, having picnics, horseback riding, or exploring local artisan markets filled with handmade treasures (you can’t leave without taking one as a souvenir). For the more adventurous, Bucerías is a great place to try paddleboarding or kitesurfing in the late afternoon.

La Lancha. Located in the Punta Mita area, this spot is one of the favorites among surfers of all levels, not only for its consistent waves but also because it is an ideal place to swim, relax on its soft sand, or spend the day with friends, a partner, or the whole family facing the sea.
