As Mexico City prepares to welcome collectors, curators, and art lovers from around the world for Zona MACO 2026, two hotels are stepping decisively into the role of cultural hosts. Alexander Hotel and Hotel Volga have announced a joint curatorial program that places both properties at the center of the city’s Art Week—less as places to pass through, and more as spaces where contemporary art, music, and community intersect.

Running parallel to the fair, the agenda unfolds across three days and offers a complementary reading of Mexico City’s creative ecosystem, bringing together artists, galleries, and cultural voices through experiences that privilege intimacy, dialogue, and atmosphere.

A Curated Opening at Alexander Hotel

Collection, Curation & Community

Tuesday, February 3

The program begins at Alexander Hotel with Collection, Curation & Community, an evening presented in collaboration with CAM Galería and LOCO Tequila. Conceived as a meeting point between art, gastronomy, and hospitality, the event centers on the work of Mexican artist Alejandra España.

Through a focused selection of key pieces, the presentation offers a look at four years of España’s multidisciplinary practice—marked by a sensitive exploration of material, gesture, and memory. The event also serves as a prelude to two significant moments in her recent career: Tunnel and Glimpse, her solo exhibition at CAM Galería curated by Charles Moore, and her participation in the gallery’s booth at Zona MACO.

A curated food pairing by chef Rogelio Zacatelco, designed to dialogue with the artwork on a sensory level, and a tequila tasting by LOCO Tequila complete the experience. The result is an evening where curatorial rigor meets high-end hospitality in a setting designed for conversation rather than spectacle.

The Official Kickoff at Hotel Volga

Zona MACO 2026 Opening Night

Wednesday, February 4

On Wednesday, Hotel Volga hosts the official kickoff of Zona MACO 2026, positioning itself as a nocturnal gathering point for the city’s creative community. Designed as an immersive encounter, the event transforms the hotel into a dynamic cultural space animated by contemporary art, music, and site-specific interventions.

Works by artist Mónica Esquivel will be integrated throughout the property, reinforcing the experimental tone of the evening. Her practice—rooted in abstraction, color, and identity—aligns with Volga’s emerging role as a platform for contemporary cultural expression.

Adding a digital layer to the night, visual artist Rampa presents an ephemeral mapping installation created specifically for the hotel, using light and projection to reframe its architectural surfaces. Tequila Volcán accompanies the evening, which concludes with an exclusive after-hours gathering at Minos, featuring a DJ set curated by Oveous from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Alchemy as Creative Process

Marcos Cojab – POP-UP: Art Edition

Thursday, February 5 | Alexander Hotel

The program concludes back at Alexander Hotel with Marcos Cojab – POP-UP: Art Edition, an ephemeral experience that explores alchemy as both metaphor and method. Blurring the boundaries between art, design, and object, the presentation reflects Cojab’s cross-disciplinary approach and his interest in transformation as a creative force.

Set in a cocktail-style format and accompanied by Pernod Ricard, the evening invites collectors and creatives into an intimate environment where conversation and observation unfold organically, reinforcing the hotel’s role as a space for cultural exchange rather than passive consumption.

Two Hotels, One Cultural Vision

Together, Alexander Hotel and Hotel Volga present a shared vision of hospitality during Art Week—one that understands luxury not as excess, but as access: to ideas, to dialogue, and to community. In a city where art extends far beyond fair booths and museum walls, both properties position themselves as places where Mexico City’s creative pulse can be experienced up close, and where travelers are invited not just to attend Art Week, but to inhabit it.
